Setup work arrives as a situation rather than a shopping list: a computer that has just been replaced, an operating system that has just gone back on clean, a key that will not take. Most of the effort sits on either side of the installer, in locating the correct license, signing into the account it lives on, matching a driver to the hardware in front of us, and making sure two programs are not fighting over the same files. The software itself is catalogued further down the page.

  1. A new computer, start to finish

    Arrive with a machine still in the box and your list. We take it from first boot through accounts, programs, printers and folder layout, so it is ready to work on when you collect it.

  2. A machine being replaced

    Programs and files moved onto the new computer. Subscription apps such as Microsoft 365 and Adobe Creative Cloud follow the account, while older one-time licenses often have to be released on the old machine first, so hold on to it until the move is finished.

  3. Back from a reinstall or a malware clean

    Windows or macOS has gone back on clean and everything has to go back with it, in the right order and signed into the right accounts. This is the other half of an OS reinstall or a virus removal, and it is often booked with one.

  4. A license you own that will not activate

    An expired key, a forgotten account password, or a seat still held by a computer you no longer have. We work out which of the three it is before anything is reinstalled, rather than installing twice.

  5. A printer or scanner the computer will not see

    Usually a driver or a network problem rather than a fault in either device. We take the driver from the manufacturer for your exact model and your Windows or macOS version, so nothing rests on a bundled disc or a search result.

  6. A set of machines for one business

    Several workstations taken as a single job, with the same applications, shared printers and matching settings across all of them. Business support is available in-shop, remote and on-site.

Grouped by family rather than listed one title at a time, because a setup job almost always arrives as a set rather than a single program. Whichever family yours falls in the work is the same: the correct license located, the account it lives on signed into, the previous product removed where two would clash, and the folders pointed somewhere you will actually find them. Between them these cover most of what comes through the door. If yours is not here, call with the name of the software and we will read the vendor's requirements against your machine before you make the trip.

  • Office, mail and collaboration

    Microsoft 365 or one-time Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and OneDrive. Slack, Zoom and Discord for chat alongside them. Email set up against Gmail, Microsoft, Yahoo or your own domain in Outlook, Apple Mail or Thunderbird, with folders, rules and signatures rebuilt rather than left for you to redo.

  • Creative, media and documents

    Adobe Creative Cloud as a full suite or single apps: Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom and Premiere, with plugins, brushes and presets carried across. Media codecs, document and CAD viewers, font managers and archive tools.

  • Accounting and tax

    QuickBooks Desktop and Online, Quicken, TurboTax and FreshBooks, with your company file opened on the new install and checked against the old one.

  • CAD, engineering and trade

    AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, MATLAB and the narrow tools a trade runs on. You supply the license, and we read the vendor's requirements against your machine first.

  • Security, backup and cloud sync

    Antivirus, anti-malware, password managers and VPN clients, with the previous product removed first so two engines are not scanning the same files and fighting each other for them. iCloud, OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, Backblaze and Carbonite, pointed at the folders your files really live in.

  • Game launchers and system utilities

    Steam, Epic, GOG, Battle.net, Riot, Xbox and the EA app, with existing libraries pointed at the drive you want them on. Underneath them, virtual machines in Parallels or VirtualBox, WSL on Windows, Boot Camp on Intel-era Macs, and package managers such as Homebrew and Chocolatey.

Come in with the machine, the list and whatever proves the software is yours. The admin prompts, restarts and buried settings that eat an evening at home become our problem from there.

    The computer, the programs you want on it, and the keys or account logins that belong to each one.

  2. Check the machine

    We compare storage, memory, graphics and OS version against what each program asks for, and say so if something has to be upgraded first.

  3. Scope and price

    You get the cost of the whole list before anything is installed. Every repair is quoted after inspection, before any work starts.

  4. Install and test

    Each program goes on, gets signed in, and gets opened and used once. We note down what was installed and where your files ended up.

About Cost

How we price a setup.

Every repair is quoted after inspection, before any work starts. Give us the whole list up front and the number covers all of it, rather than arriving one program at a time.

Licenses stay yours. You bring the key, the subscription login or the purchase receipt, and we use it on your machine. Nothing is bought on your behalf without you saying so.

If anything on the list is unusual, mention it when you get in touch. Some vendors publish requirements that rule out older hardware, and that is better known before the machine is on the bench.

Am I buying the software, or are you?
You are. We are not a reseller for most titles, so bring the product key, the account the subscription sits on, or the receipt for a download. If you have not bought yet, tell us what the machine is for and we will point you at the right edition before you spend anything.
Can you set up Microsoft 365?
Yes. Sign in on your Microsoft account and we install the apps, connect Outlook to your mail, and set OneDrive to sync the folders you work out of instead of the defaults.
My old computer is being replaced. Does the software move across?
It depends on how the license works. Subscription apps such as Microsoft 365 and Creative Cloud follow the account, so signing in on the new machine is enough. Older one-time licenses often have to be released on the old computer before the new one will accept them, so hold on to it until the move is finished.
Can you run Windows software on a Mac?
Often. On Apple Silicon that means a virtual machine such as Parallels running Windows on Arm, which covers a lot of business software but not all of it. Intel-era Macs can still use Boot Camp. We will tell you which one applies to your Mac before you commit to anything.
The new printer will not talk to my computer.
That is usually a driver or network problem rather than a fault in either device. Bring the printer if you can carry it. If you cannot, bring the computer and we can often finish the connection in a remote session once you are back at home.
Will you install cracked or unlicensed software?
No. We work with licenses you own, open-source software and vendor trials. Cracked installers are one of the most common ways malware reaches a computer, and we are not putting that on your machine.
Do you handle several computers for one business?
Yes. A set of workstations can be taken as a single job, with the same applications, shared printers and matching settings across all of them. Business support is available in-shop, remote and on-site.
