Hardware that comes across the bench every week

Two platforms, one bench in Elk Grove

Phones and tablets fail in a small number of ways, and they fail often. Glass takes the impact. Batteries age out. Charge ports fill with pocket debris or lose their grip on the cable. Cameras stop focusing. Something gets spilled. We see all of it on Apple and Android hardware, in handset and tablet sizes.

The pages under this one go device by device: iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, other Android handsets, iPad and Android tablets, plus a page for screen work on its own. Pick the one that matches what you have, or skip the sorting and bring the device in.

Not every fault is a part swap. A phone that will not power on, a charging circuit that never negotiates, corrosion spreading across a board after a spill: that work stays here. Advanced repair work is performed in-house where applicable. Every repair is quoted after inspection, before any work starts.

IGeek is a great place to get your iPhone repaired. I thought that I needed a new charging port for my iPhone 11, but they were able to make my phone charge by just cleaning out the port. I highly recommend iGeek! Trenton always does a great job.

They did a great job of explaining what needed to be done to fix my iPhone, and repaired it for a fair price in a short amount of time. Everyone I interacted with was very professional. I would not hesitate to go back if I needed something else repaired.

My son had decided it was good thing to shower with his iPhone - nope. Thankfully Igeek was able to help dry it all out and get it back to top notch working order. Ryan was super in helping us figure out the best solution to the problem and in such a timely manner. We were informed along the way how the progress was going and it got back in time for his trip to Los Angeles for his tournament. Thank you Ryan and Igeek team!

What happens after you hand it over

  1. Step 01

    Check the device in

Drop it at the Elk Grove shop during opening hours, or send us the details first and describe the fault.

  2. Step 02

    We find out what failed

A technician works out whether the fault is software or hardware, and which part gave up. Every repair is quoted after inspection, before any work starts.

  3. Step 03

    Approve, then collect

No part is ordered and no work begins until you say yes. We call you when the device is ready. Standard repair warranty: 30 days unless stated otherwise on your ticket.

Phones and tablets: what we work on and how it runs

A closer look at the hardware, the part decisions that change what a repair costs, and how to start one.

Phones

iPhone across the current and older generations, Samsung Galaxy in the S, Note, A and folding lines, Google Pixel, and the wider Android field from Motorola, OnePlus, LG and Sony. Display assemblies, batteries, charge ports, front and rear cameras, earpieces and loudspeakers, rear glass, and devices that have been in water. Phone and tablet diagnostic: $49, or $99 for liquid damage, data recovery and board repair, credited toward the repair when you approve it.

Tablets

iPad Pro, Air, mini and the standard iPad, alongside Galaxy Tab, Lenovo and Amazon Fire. Tablets carry larger glass and larger cells than phones, so a drop a handset shrugs off will split a tablet digitizer, and a worn tablet battery shows up as a device that will not survive being left off the charger overnight. Charge port work, camera and speaker faults and liquid cleanup make up the rest.

Batteries, and when one is actually the problem

Lithium cells lose capacity as charge cycles accumulate. The symptoms are consistent: runtime shortens, the device shuts down while the meter still reads a third full, and on an older phone the back or the screen starts to lift where the cell has swelled. A swollen cell is worth dealing with promptly, because it presses on the display and the board around it.

Plenty of short-runtime complaints turn out to be software instead. Separating the two is what the diagnostic is for, and it happens before anyone quotes you a battery.

Liquid damage

Water stops being the problem within the first minute. Corrosion takes over, and it keeps working long after the device feels dry. Rice does nothing for it. Switch the device off, leave it off the charger, and get it opened. We clean the board ultrasonically, deal with the corroded connectors and rails, then find out what still works. Some devices come through intact and some lose a component along the way, and you will hear which yours is.

Parts, pricing and what is on your ticket

We'll explain your part options before you decide. On displays the choice is a real one: an OLED panel behaves like the original, an LCD costs less and looks it, and the two are not the same purchase.

Every price we give online is an estimate. Final pricing depends on part quality, part availability, device condition and what the diagnostic finds. Standard repair warranty: 30 days unless stated otherwise on your ticket. Aftermarket OLED and Apple original phone screens carry a 90-day warranty against manufacturer defects; drops, physical damage and liquid damage after the repair are not covered. Aftermarket LCD phone screens carry no warranty. For the iPhone 11 and X series and the iPhone SE (2nd or 3rd generation) we offer one screen: a high quality aftermarket screen with a 90-day warranty. Customer-supplied parts are accepted, with no warranty or guarantee on the supplied part.
