The liquid itself evaporates on its own. What stays behind is the dissolved mineral and sugar residue, and that residue sits across pads held at different voltages the moment the battery is connected. The result is an electrochemical cell on your board, and it eats copper. Leave the device switched off and off the charger, because every attempt to power it up feeds the reaction. Reaching the bench sooner means less metal has gone. A device that has been sitting a while is still worth opening; sometimes the board comes back, and sometimes the useful outcome is getting the data off it.

We work on liquid-damaged iPhones, Samsung Galaxy and Pixel phones, iPads and Android tablets, MacBooks and Windows laptops. Water, coffee, soda, beer, pool water and salt water each leave different residue, and the sugary ones are hardest on a board. Bring the device to the counter or start a quote online. Rice does nothing useful. It pulls a little ambient moisture and never touches the residue on the board, which is the actual damage. Skip the hair dryer and the oven. Heat drives liquid further in, softens adhesive and cooks components that were still fine. Do not press the power button to check whether it still works. That is the test that turns a repairable board into a dead one. Do not plug it in. Charging through a wet port is a direct route to a corroded charging circuit.

It comes apart. Screen, battery and shield cans come off first, because residue hides under the cans and around connectors where nothing external can reach it.

It gets cleaned, not dried. The board goes into an ultrasonic bath with solvent made for electronics. Cavitation lifts residue out of BGA gaps and from under components, which is the part that drying alone never accomplishes.

Then it gets repaired. Under magnification we look for lifted pads, open fuses, corroded legs and failed ICs on the charging and audio circuits, and we replace parts at component level rather than swapping a whole board. You hear what we found and what it takes before anything further happens.

Phone water damage. Gaskets and adhesive slow ingress on a new phone and do less after a drop, a screen replacement or a few years of heat cycles. Liquid usually arrives through the charge port and speaker mesh, so the charging circuit is the first thing we look at.

Tablet water damage. An iPad or Galaxy Tab has a large board, a large battery and plenty of room for liquid to travel before it settles. More of the board sees residue, which means more to clean and more to inspect.

Laptop and MacBook water damage. The keyboard is a funnel pointed at the board. Coffee and soda leave a sticky film on trackpad and keyboard flex cables even where the logic board survives, so those parts get tested separately.
