  1. 1. Back up your iPhone

    Settings → your name → iCloud → iCloud Backup → Back Up Now. Or plug into a computer and back up with Finder / iTunes. Your photos, contacts, and messages come with you to your next phone.

  2. 2. Turn off Find My iPhone

    Settings → your name → Find My → Find My iPhone → off (you’ll need your Apple ID password). This removes Activation Lock — we can’t buy a phone that’s still locked to your Apple account.

  3. 3. Factory reset

    Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Erase All Content and Settings. This wipes your personal data. If you’re not sure your backup worked, skip this step and we’ll help you do it safely at the counter.

  4. 4. Bring your ID (and ideally a charged phone)

    California law requires a valid state-issued photo ID for every device we buy. A charged phone speeds up verification — bring the charger too if you still have it.
