Hardware that comes across the bench every week

One operating system, a very long list of hardware

Android is not one phone. It is Samsung, Google, Motorola, OnePlus, LG, Sony and a long tail of others, each with its own assembly order, its own adhesive and its own connector layout. The repairs themselves are familiar. Getting into the device without breaking something else is where model knowledge earns its keep.

Most Android work here is a display assembly, a worn battery, a USB-C port that has stopped holding the cable, a rear camera behind cracked glass, or a handset that went in water. Software faults come in too, and the diagnostic is what tells the two apart before anything is opened.

Every repair is quoted after inspection, before any work starts. Ask about turnaround when you check in; it depends on the repair and parts availability.

How an Android repair runs

  1. Step 01

    Bring the handset in

Come by the Elk Grove shop during opening hours, or describe the fault online and we will take it from there.

  2. Step 02

    We find out what failed

A technician separates software from hardware and identifies the failed part. Every repair is quoted after inspection, before any work starts.

  3. Step 03

    Your call on the repair

Nothing is ordered until you approve the quote, and we call you when the handset is finished. Standard repair warranty: 30 days unless stated otherwise on your ticket.

Android repair, by the part that failed

What breaks on Android hardware, what each repair involves, and how the part you pick changes the job.

Brands and models we work on

Samsung Galaxy in the S, Note, A and M lines plus the Z Fold and Z Flip, Google Pixel across its generations, Motorola from the Moto G range upward, OnePlus, LG and Sony. If the handset runs Android, start by bringing it in. Ask about turnaround when you check in; it depends on the repair and parts availability.

Displays

Android panels are mostly AMOLED on flagships and LCD further down the range, and the two fail differently. A cracked AMOLED often keeps working until the damage reaches the driver, then shows a spreading black or green area. An LCD tends to bloom white and lose touch in patches. Either way the glass and the panel are bonded, so replacement means the full assembly. We'll explain your part options before you decide.

Batteries

A cell that has been through a few years of charge cycles holds less than it did, and the phone tells you by shutting down early or dropping a large chunk of charge at once. Swelling is the other sign, visible as a display edge that has started to lift away from the frame. That one is worth dealing with sooner rather than later.

USB-C ports

Most charging complaints on Android are mechanical. Lint compacts into the port until the plug cannot seat fully, and clearing it out is the whole repair. Past that, contacts wear, pins bend, and the port board itself gets damaged by a cable levered sideways in a pocket. On most models the port is a replaceable part rather than a reason to replace the board.

Liquid damage

A wet phone is a corrosion problem, not a drying problem, and the corrosion continues after the outside feels dry. Keep it switched off, keep it off the charger, and bring it in. We open it, clean the board ultrasonically, replace what the liquid destroyed, then find out what survived. There is no way to know that answer in advance, and we do not pretend otherwise.

Data, accounts and software

Android to Android transfers, pulling photos and contacts off a handset that will not boot normally, Google account and factory reset problems, and connectivity faults across Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and mobile data. If a phone or a drive is failing, it gets imaged before anything else is attempted on it. Phone and tablet diagnostic: $49, or $99 for liquid damage, data recovery and board repair, credited toward the repair when you approve it.

Pricing, parts and your ticket

Every price we give online is an estimate. Final pricing depends on part quality, part availability, device condition and what the diagnostic finds. Flagship parts cost more than mid-range parts, which is most of why two screen repairs are rarely the same number.

Standard repair warranty: 30 days unless stated otherwise on your ticket. Customer-supplied parts are accepted, with no warranty or guarantee on the supplied part.
